A resurgence that never surged

"You know," I said to my family one day, "everybody's out there blogging. Maybe I should start a blog."

Mom thought about this for a moment. "Well," she said, "that would mean you'd have to actually tell people what's going on in your life."

She was right. That pretty much killed the idea right there.

This represents its uncanny revival, a la the infamous Herbert West. I'm not sure how long it will last, given my tendency to reticence regarding personal matters, but we'll give it a shot.

For those who don't know me, I like reading, weird supernatural fiction/fact (especially older sources, and those that sit between the two categories), H. P. Lovecraft, role-playing games (though I think that's slowly going away), the study of the history of magic, and bad movies, in no particular order.

My past sins include a B.A. in English and anthropology from Vanderbilt University, an M.A. in anthropology from the University at Buffalo, and an M.LIS from the University of Pittsburgh. I'm a reasonably new inhabitant of an Undisclosed Location in upstate New York, working as a librarian at an Undisclosed Workplace which I will do my best not to mention.

I'm also a writer, though in a desultory fashion. It's appeared in dribs and drabs, and apparently it's been good enough that sections have been translated into French, German, Spanish (more bitching about this later), I've written two books – the Encyclopedia Cthulhiana (unavailable, for reasons connected with the aforementioned bitching) and, with the notorious John Wisdom Gonce III, The Necronomicon Files. The latter, and the controversy regarding it, will occupy the first few posts here.

So, we'll get started shortly.

  2. Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging. I’ve read your Encyclopedia Cthulhiana, but I haven’t picked up a copy of the Necronomicon Files yet. I remember getting my copy of the simon necronomicon as a teenager due to my fascination with Lovecraft. Thought it was kinda hokey, but it did lead to me finding out more about Sumerian mythology and assorted magical traditions. Looking forward to reading your opinion of the new book.

  3. I really enjoyed viewing your healing page, thanks again.
