Lovecraft’s Birthday

As on every August 20th, it’s time for Lovecraft fans worldwide to celebrate the birthday of their favorite author.  I was trying to come up with something witty and original to say, but, let’s face it, there’s nothing I can say that’s going to do the man any good.  I suppose the appropriate response would be to write a poem in honor of him – that’s what he sometimes did for his friends – but I’d want some lead time to keep myself from some aesthetic hideousness, like rhyming “Nile” with “bathroom tile.”

A Lovecraft birthday poetry contest might be an idea for next year…

  1. As Hite pointed out, few HPL memorials can match those of Rapa Nui…

  2. I always keep it simple: eat icecream and pet a cat. Didn’t find a cat until today, but it is the thought that counts.
