The Long-Hidden Friend

For those who want to see Carleton Brown’s version of The Long-Lost Friend with commentary, you can get the issue of The Journal of American Folklore in which it was featured via Google Books here, beginning on page 89.  I’ve actually been working with this for some time, but it didn’t occur to me to link to it.

As with other translations, it’s not perfect – the most obvious example being the translation of “fledermaus,” or “bat,” as “fieldmouse.”  Still, given the state of my German, I can’t complain too much.
